Celebrate the world’s tallest animal on the longest day of the year
Get here early for yoga on Twiga Terrace, get a behind-the-scenes look during a giraffe barn tour, paint a canvas with a giraffe, learn about giraffe’s current conservation status and celebrate Congo’s 10th birthday!
Visit the pavilion for a special giraffe keeper chat at 11:00 am, learn giraffe-tastic facts and the impact of conservation with giraffes in the wild.
YOGA ON TWIGA TERRACE

Stretch your neck and come experience yoga on the Giraffe Terrace at 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM!
Registration includes a 40 minute yoga class, giraffe feeding and Zoo admission.
Guests should bring their own mat.
GIRAFFE BARN TOURS & tall tales
Ever wonder what the inside of a giraffe house looks like?
Go behind-the-scenes with our Zoo Keepers to hear some TALL tales and learn all about the barn that Congo, Kito, Jamie, Sara Ann, Pele and Malaika call home!
Each tour will last approximately 15 minutes and is limited to twelve participants per time slot.
PAINTING FOR CONSERVATION
Create art with a giraffe! Join us for Painting for Conservation, a one-of-a-kind experience where you’ll get to paint your own canvas alongside one of Abilene Zoo’s majestic giraffes. Guided by our team, you’ll use special paint to create a collaborative piece with a giraffe’s unique brushstrokes.
This interactive session not only lets you take home a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, but also helps raise awareness and support for giraffe conservation efforts.
Each package includes an 11×14 canvas to take home.
Four 15 min slots available: 2:00 – 2:15 pm, 2:15 – 2:30 pm, 2:30 – 2:45 pm, 2:45 pm – 3:00 pm.

Join us at the giraffe terrace at 11:30 am for a special keeper chat and to sing “Happy Birthday” to Congo, treating him to a delicious birthday cake!
