Volunteer Programs
As an Abilene Zoo volunteer, you can have a great impact by using your talents to enhance the experience of the zoo guests and provide staff support.
Become an Animal Care or Bird Rehabilitation Volunteer
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Completed application
- Interview to determine the best fit
- Be physically capable of performing tasks required for your position and able to follow directions
- Be able to work in a variety of environments; including outside at times in variable and inclement weather
- Fulfilling the time requirements for the job which you have applied
Group Volunteer Request
Abilene Zoo welcomes corporate, military, school, and other volunteer groups to meet the needs of the zoo.

Become an Event Volunteer
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Complete sign-up form for the event when posted
- Be physically capable of performing tasks required and able to follow directions
- Be able to work in a variety of environments; including outside at times in variable and inclement weather
- Fulfilling the time requirements for the event shift
