Rock and Roar Feat. Pecos & The Rooftops

Get WILD with up-close animal encounters, feast on barbecue and funnel cake fries, sip refreshing cocktails and cool drinks, while rockin’ and roarin’ to some of this year’s most popular Texas artists. 

We are thrilled to announce our headlining band – Pecos and the Rooftops!

Pecos & the Rooftops are a close knit group of friends from northeast Texas that came together while in college in Lubbock. Their sound is pure and raw, with a mixture of Texas country & rock n’ roll roots. The band is Pecos Hurley (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar), Brandon Jones (Rhythm Guitar), Sheldon Baker (Lead Guitar), Kalen Davis (Bass), and Kris Stephens (Drums). 

Also performing is The Droptines and Kirk House Band. The Droptines are an alternative country band born in Concan, Texas. Blending a multitude of genres, while tethering each song together with a specific vernacular native to the Texas Hill Country, resulting in a broad range of authentic, versatile melodies. 

Kirk grew up singing in church, and attributes the passion in his singing to his late grandfather, Clarence House.  As an artist, it’s hard to pin Kirk into one genre.  He’s blues, he’s rock, he’s country and he’s soul.

Schedule:

• • 5 p.m. – Gates Open

• • 5 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Complimentary carousel, train rides, giraffe feedings (1 piece)

• • 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. – Kirk House Band opens

• • 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. – The Droptines begin

• • 9 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. – Pecos and the Rooftops begin

Know Before You Go:

• • Spirits, wine and beer will be for sale during the event. 

• • Non-alcoholic drinks will be available

• • Must bring valid I.D. for consumption of adult beverages.

• • Parking is first come, first serve. 

• • Discount tickets for zoo members.

• • Tickets will include admission to the entire zoo. Proceeds benefit wildlife conservation and the Abilene Zoo.

Concessions:

• • Brisket Plate – Sliced Brisket, Bread, Potato Salad, Coleslaw (Onions, pickles and BBQ sauce available upon request)

• • Brisket Sandwich – Chopped Brisket Sandwich, Potato Salad, Coleslaw

• • Kids Meal – Hot dog, Chips, Drink (Condiments available upon request)

Official Rules *

1. 1. Must be age sixteen (16) or older to enter. Limit one (1) entry per person.
   2. Must enter contest using Zoo online entry form and sell tickets by midnight, September 4, 2023. Contest begins 8 AM July 21, 2023. 
   3. Must agree to accept a call from the Zoo after submitting an entry form for eligibility.
   4. Prizes awarded on tickets sold under entrant’s registration code- refunded tickets not counted.
   5. Entrants under age twenty-one (21) not eligible for alcoholic drink tickets at the event.
   6. Zoo will make a reasonable effort to contact Entrants eligible for prizes. Entrants must be available for contact by the Zoo and respond within 2 days of contact. Contest prizes are non transferable.  
   7. Entrant agrees that Zoo may keep entry form personal info of Entrant and use that information in future marketing or publicity.
   8. First Entrant to sell at least 150 tickets wins a premium VIP prize.

• • 50 – Two (2) Premium Admission tickets, with gift from Zoo

• • 75 – Two (2) VIP tickets, with front standing room, exclusive meet and greet with band, small gift basket and drink tickets for entrants over 21 yrs of age.  

• • 150 – Four (4) premium VIP tickets, with same benefits as VIP, plus large gift basket, special media shout-out with Entrant, guests and band, plus on-stage introduction of the band.
