World Rhino Day is dedicated to raising awareness about all five rhino species and the global efforts to protect them. Since its inception in 2011, this special day has been celebrated on September 22nd by rhino experts and conservationists worldwide.
Join us on September 21st to celebrate World Rhino Day with one-of-a-kind experiences, including: breakfast and storytime with our rhino Uhuru, an enrichment craft station, face painting, pop up tours, an EdZooCation station, painting a rhino canvas for conservation, rhino keeper chats, and an exclusive Rhino Painting Encounter!

Join us for a special morning with our southern black rhino, Uhuru.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast sponsored by IHOP, a fun rhino-themed storytime, and a meet and greet with Uhuru to feed him snacks!
Your registration includes: a rhino storytime, meet & greet with Uhuru, a photo op, a rhino bookmark and breakfast featuring pancakes, eggs, and sausage.

Registration includes the class plus all the supplies you need to paint a custom rhino canvas to take home.

Join us at the rhino habitat for a special talk with rhino keeper, Meredith, to learn fascinating facts about rhinos and enjoy watching Uhuru devour one of his favorite snacks, a delicious watermelon!Â

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where art and nature collide!
In this exclusive encounter with Uhuru the rhino, you’ll get up close and personal with one of Abilene Zoo’s most magnificent creature.
Limited to just four guests, this special experience lets you hand-feed Uhuru his favorite treats and collaborate with him to create a unique piece of art.
