Volunteer

As an Abilene Zoo volunteer, you can have a great impact by using your talents to enhance the experience of the zoo guests and provide staff support.

Thank you for your interest in joining our fantastic team of dedicated zoo volunteers. Each year we have over 240,000 people visit the zoo including over 12,000 school children.

Volunteers are very important to the zoo.

The main functions of the zoo are conservation and education.  We try to plant little seeds of knowledge to hopefully influence responsible stewardship in the future.

We are looking for committed individuals who are prepared to serve for at least 6 months, and who are willing to give a minimum of 6-8 hours per month.

If you are concerned because you don’t have the training or knowledge you feel you need, don’t worry!  We will give you all the training you will need and guide you.

We look forward to having you as one of our volunteers!
