You can add your child to any waitlist in their age range using the CampDoc registration system. See link below to get onto CampDoc:
https://app.campdoc.com/!/?r=abilenezoo
If you have not accessed it before, you will need to create a profile and then add your children to this profile. Once this is done you can click on their profiles and then “registration.” Then select “Register for a new session.” All available camps for that age will be visible. If the camp is sold out, you will see “(Waitlist)” in red. Click on the camp(s) you want to try and get into and then continue through the pages to get onto the waitlist(s). If your child is moved from the waitlist into a camp, you receive an automated e-mail from CampDoc.
Provide an email address when you become a zoo member and you will automatically be added to our Z-News member-only newsletter! Zoo members are informed ahead of time through this system about camp registration start dates. If you are a zoo member, make sure you do not unsubscribe from these newsletters, as you may miss camp information.

When registering through CampDoc there will be a question asking if you have any coupons or scholarships. Select “Yes” and enter the code that you received in the member email newsletter. If you need the code, please email us at zoo.education@abilenetx.gov.
Yes, you can! Email us at zoo.education@abilenetx.gov.
The Abilene Zoo strives to accommodate all interested children. Please understand that our camps are very active, with multiple transitions and sensory changes throughout the day. All campers are expected to follow directions and safety rules.
Please provide us with the tools necessary to give your child the best possible experience at Zoo Camp by informing us of all special considerations prior to your child’s first day of camp. This may include information on allergies, accessibility concerns, behavioral, psychological or emotional conditions or other special needs. Details of any Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Behavior Plans used with your child at school can often be helpful.
Do not send money to camp with your child for any reason. Campers are not permitted to purchase any items from the zoo concession stand, gift shop or vending machines.
Preschool camps are only half day and do not include a lunch break. All other campers MUST bring a sack lunch. Please pack a lunch for your child each day and send with a reusable water bottle. We cannot refrigerate or microwave any food for your child.
Books, toys, stuffed animals, cell phones, electronics, money should all be left at home. We are not responsible for lost items and these items can be a distraction to other campers.
Comfortable, loose fitting clothing appropriate for the hot Texas summer weather. Closed-toed shoes, no sandals or flip flops. Your campers will be doing quite a bit of walking in the zoo and may be running and playing during the lunch break.
Yes, we allow your child to meet and touch our smaller ambassador animals. These animals include reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and mammals. They may also get the chance to feed the giraffe.
Each topic is developed with age-appropriate techniques and measures. As such, age/grade level requirements are not negotiable and are strictly enforced.
If unable to attend a scheduled camp, please notify us within two weeks of the camp start for a refund, minus the $75 non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be given for unattended days of camp.
