Zoo Teens: Jr. Camp Counselor
Inspire future generations of conservationists as you join our summer camp staff to guide campers’ learning through zoo tours, crafts, and animal encounters. Learn how to handle and care for ambassador animals for the campers and the public.

$80 for members, $100 for non-members
Benefits:
Zoo Teen Pass for unlimited Zoo Admission May 2023 – March 2024 (Boo at the Zoo and Christmas Celebration not included)
Guest Passes (once minimum hours have been met)

Application Process
Teens must be at least entering the 8th-grade fall of 2023 to apply to the Zoo teen program.
Applications Open January 30, 2023
Applications Close April 7, 2023
All applicants must complete the application.
Submit two recommendation google forms from unrelated adults (link below)
Interview with Zoo education leadership.
During the interview, applicants will give a 2-3 minute presentation on the importance of zoos and aquariums.

Expectations if selected:
The program fee will be due by May 7th.
Parents or guardians must attend parent orientation on May 4th or May 6th.
Please provide us with any time off requests needed for vacation or appointments.
Zoo teens must be able to meet all scheduled training.

Complete at least:
24 hours of Training (Mandatory Training June 5th, 7th, and 9th)
70 hours of Summer Camp (June 12- August 11 or Spring Break)
30 hours of Animal Ambassador Husbandry (May 2023-March 2024)
10 hours of Events or Animal Celebration Days (September 1 – March 31)
